‘Cats: The Jellicle Ball’ Announces Full Cast for Broadway Run

The Broadway revival “Cats: The Jellicle Ball” has announced its full cast as the production prepares to begin previews at the Broadhurst Theatre on March 18. The reimagined staging of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical will officially open April 7.

Newly added to the company is Leiomy Maldonado, who will appear as Mavacity. Maldonado is joined by Kya Azeen in the role of Etcetera, as well as Bryson Battle who will portray Jellylorum. Also joining the Broadway cast is Ken Ard, who originated the role of Macavity in the original 1982 Broadway production of “Cats.” Ard will appear in the newly conceived role of DJ Griddlebone.

Additional cast members announced include Sherrod T. Brown, Bryce Farris, Phumzile Sojola, Kendall Grayson Stroud, B. Noel Thomas, Kalyn West, and Donté Nadir Wilder. They will join a previously revealed ensemble, much of which is returning from the show’s earlier Off-Broadway run at Perelman Performing Arts Center.

That returning cast includes Tony Award winner André De Shields as Old Deuteronomy, Chasity Moore as Grizabella, Junior LaBeija as Gus, and Sydney James Harcourt as Rum Tum Tugger. Also featured are Jonathan Burke, Baby Byrne, Dava Huesca, Dudney Joseph Jr., Robert “Silk” Mason, Primo Thee Ballerino, Xavier Reyes, Nora Schell, Bebe Nicole Simpson, Emma Sofia, Garnet Williams, Teddy Wilson Jr., and Tara Lashan Clinkscales. Casting is by Victor Vazquez and Sujotta R. Pace of X Casting.

“Cats: The Jellicle Ball” is co-directed by Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch, with choreography by Omari Wiles and Arturo Lyons. The full creative team from the Off-Broadway production is set to return for the Broadway engagement.
