Boston Calling dropped huge news this morning: two of the top alternative-rock bands in the world – Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters – will headline the 2020 edition of the festival.
The 2020 event will take place over Memorial Day Weekend from May 22 to 24 at the Harvard Athletic Complex. While the festival usually waits until January to release lineup news, the music festival was eager to share the pair of headliners early, along with presale tickets. At this time, the rest of the lineup, which is set to include more than 60 artists, has not been announced.
The Foo Fighters, fronted by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, are best-known for staple tracks in the rock scene like “Everlong,” “Best of Me,” and “The Pretender.” The group is gearing up to release their tenth album. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers of Red Hot Chili Peppers – known for “Californiacation” and “Can’t Stop” – are reportedly working on their 12th studio album; this is their first performance in Boston since 2017.
“Boston is such a great city for rock music, and we are so proud to bring some of the most important rock artists of all time to Boston Calling next Memorial Day Weekend,” Boston Calling Events CEO and co-founder Brian Appel said in a statement. “We have worked for years to bring the Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers to the festival, and this year everything lined up perfectly. We couldn’t be happier, and will complement them with an incredibly diverse lineup of artists throughout the festival weekend.”
Limited special pricing presale will be available tomorrow, November 14, at 10 a.m. Three-day general admission tickets start at $239, followed by three-day VIP at $549 and three-day platinum at $1,049.
The 2019 edition of the festival, which took place this past May, featured headlining performances from Twenty One Pilots, Tame Impala, and Travis Scott. See our review of the festival here.
