New Leads Announced for Off-Broadway’s ‘Little Shop of Horrors’

Jordan Fisher, Nikki M. James, and Andy Karl are getting ready to take the stage at the Westside Theatre in the Off-Broadway revival of “Little Shop of Horrors.”

Fisher will assume the role of Seymour, while James will take over as Audrey starting March 6. Karl will join the company as Dr. Orin Scrivello, D.D.S. on March 10.

Joshua Bassett and Joy Woods, who currently portray Seymour and Audrey, are scheduled to give their final performances on March 1. Understudies will cover the roles from March 3 through March 5. Andrew Durand, who plays Orin, will depart the show following his final performance on March 8.

Producer Tom Kirdahy acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing cast in a statement, sharing, “Joshua and Joy have brought such sincerity, joy, and soul to Seymour and Audrey. Their performances have been a true gift to this production, and we are deeply grateful for the magic they’ve shared with our company and audiences.”

The current cast of “Little Shop of Horrors” also includes Christopher Swan as Mushnik, Christian McQueen as the voice of Audrey II, and Christine Wanda, Savannah Lee Birdsong, and Morgan Ashley Bryant as the Urchins.

The ensemble features Teddy Yudain, Weston Chandler Long, Mecca Hicks, Jeff Sears, Aveena Sawyer, Mike Masters, Alloria Frayser, Chani Maisonet, Johnny Newcomb, Jon Hoche, Jonothon Lyons, and Noel MacNeal.

Since the revival began, the production has featured numerous well-known performers in its lead roles. Past Seymours and Audreys include Jonathan Groff, Jeremy Jordan, Lena Hall, Darren Criss, Matt Doyle, Skylar Astin, Evan Rachel Wood, Constance Wu, Sarah Hyland, Andrew Barth Feldman, and Corbin Bleu. Jinkx Monsoon made history during the run by becoming the first drag queen to portray Audrey in a major production of the musical.

Directed by Michael Mayer, the revival features choreography by Ellenore Scott, with scenic design by Julian Crouch, lighting by Bradley King, costumes by Tom Broecker, sound design by Jessica Paz, and puppet design by Nicholas Mahon, with original puppets by Martin P. Robinson. Music supervision, orchestration, and arrangements are by Will Van Dyke. Casting is by Jim Carnahan, with puppets provided by Monkey Boys Productions.
